$414K in Grants Awarded to 32 Community-Based Organizations

FHLB Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program Provides 3:1 Match of Members’ Donations

DALLAS--()--The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) is pleased to announce $414,010 in Partnership Grant Program funds have been awarded by FHLB Dallas and member institutions to 32 community-based organizations (CBO).

Through this unique grant program, FHLB Dallas member institutions contribute $500 up to $4,000 to a CBO, which FHLB Dallas matches at a 3:1 ratio to provide the CBO up to $12,000 in grant money. Grants are awarded annually through FHLB Dallas’ member institutions via a lottery system. In 2018, FHLB Dallas awarded $300,000 in PGP funds that were combined with the $114,010 contributed by 31 FHLB Dallas members for a total of $414,010 to the organizations.

New Orleans, Louisiana-based Urban Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to research, education and advocacy to promote the regional built environment and local economies, received a $4,500 grant from FHLB Dallas’ PGP and IBERIABANK. Urban Conservancy Executive Director Dana Eness says the grant will be used to produce videos to simplify and educate small business owners on the permitting process with the city of New Orleans.

The grant is the third PGP award Urban Conservancy has received from FHLB Dallas and IBERIABANK. The PGP was intended to strengthen partnerships between CBOs and FHLB Dallas members.

“At first, I did not fully appreciate the goal of the PGP to deepen our connections with local bankers,” says Ms. Eness. “Over the years, I have come to understand how the PGP not only enables us to do something good within the community for our small businesses, but how it really helps our nonprofit have a stronger relationship with our IBERIABANK branch. Working with FHLB Dallas has been such a great process in terms of figuring out what the community needs and how we can play our part.”

Partnership grants may be used to:

  • Offset operational and administrative expenses
  • Purchase or rent equipment or software
  • Hire staff and/or consultants
  • Secure training, consulting or technical support
  • Sponsor special program-related events
  • Conduct research or studies related to economic development or affordable housing projects
  • Hire professional contractors such as architects, engineers, grant writers or accountants

“The Partnership Grant Program continues to be one of our most sought-after grant programs. Our members are able to leverage the FHLB Dallas match to provide additional support for community-based organizations, and thus further strengthen their relationships with CBOs,” said Greg Hettrick, first vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas.
