National Science Foundation's Manish Parashar Named Feature Speaker at the 2018 Internet2 Global Summit

Keynote address will focus on dramatic changes in the scale and nature of cyberinfrastructure requirements to support scientific research

WASHINGTON--()--Dr. Manish Parashar, office director for the Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC) at the National Science Foundation (NSF), will be the keynote speaker on Tuesday, May 8 at 3:15 p.m. PDT during the 2018 Internet2 Global Summit in San Diego. He will discuss “Realizing a Cyberinfrastructure Ecosystem that Transforms Science.”

Recent years are witnessing dramatic changes in the nature and requirements of science applications, in the scale and pervasiveness of data, and in the landscape of technologies and resources. The OAC’s overarching mission is to conceptualize, design and implement the advanced cyberinfrastructure that is critical to the advancement of all areas of science and engineering research and education. Dr. Parashar will present an overview of OAC and its programs, investments, and vision for evolving programs and priorities to transform science in the 21st century.

The 2018 Internet2 Global Summit meeting will convene research and education technology leaders from May 6-9 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina hotel, and is co-hosted by CENIC, the University of California San Diego, and San Diego State University.
