Menara Networks Announces General Availability of Industry’s Only Tunable SFP+ with Integrated OTN and Forward Error Correction Capabilities

DALLAS--()--Menara Networks, an IPG Photonics business and a vertically integrated provider of IP/Ethernet DWDM transport solutions, today announced the general availability of its OTN tunable SFP+ transceiver; a “System-in-module” with integrated Forward Error Correction (FEC) and advanced monitoring capabilities.

Based on the company’s proprietary high speed Integrated circuit, Menara’s OTN SFP+ provides superior optical performance, enhanced FEC, and full G.709 OTN functionalities — akin to those found in chassis-based DWDM transponders — in a pluggable small form factor. It transparently processes 10G Ethernet, 10G FC and 9.96 Gbps SONET/SDH and is compatible with all major routers and Ethernet/MPLS switches. Menara’s OTN SFP+ is the industry’s only module capable of 120 km reach without optical amplification or dispersion compensation at 11.1 Gbps. A rich menu of “near-end” and “far-end” in-service monitoring makes it ideal for zero foot-print 10G NID applications. The Telcordia qualified module is tunable over the entire C-band on the 50 GHz grid and is available for commercial and industrial temperature applications.

“We are happy to announce general availability of our OTN SFP+,” said Siraj Nour ElAhmadi, Menara President & GM. “This product is now shipping to a major OEM customer and several service providers affording them significant footprint, power consumption and cost advantages versus a transponder-based solution.”

In an earlier press release, Menara Networks announced customer sampling of the company 200G Digital CFP2-DCO module, as the latest member of the Hytham line of digital coherent 100G/200G pluggable modules.

Menara Networks is showcasing live its Atlas line of OTN “system-in-a-module” and its Hytham line of 100G/200G digital coherent pluggable modules in an IP over DWDM application based on Juniper Networks® MX Router and IPG Photonics high performance compact hybrid EDFA/Raman Optical Services Transport Platform (OSTP) at its booth # 4423 on the exhibit floor of the Optical Fiber Communications from March 13-15, 2018 at the San Diego Convention Center.
