Eye Care Leaders Secures 2015 Edition ONC-Health IT Certification for Nine Platforms

All EHRs in ECL’s portfolio earn ONC-Health IT’s latest stamp of approval

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--()--Eye Care Leaders (ECL), an industry pioneer providing performance solutions to eye care practices, announced today the certification of their entire portfolio of ophthalmology and optometry-specific EHRs from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC-Health IT) for its 2015 Edition Health IT Module certification. The nine EHRs are: myCare iMedicWare, myCare Integrity, MDOffice, ManagementPlus, Medflow, IO Practiceware, KeyMedical, MyVisionExpress, and EyeDoc.

The 2015 edition is the most up-to-date certification available from ONC-Health IT, a regulatory agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services charged with the interoperability and security of Protected Health Information (PHI). ONC-Health IT issued ECL’s eight certifications through Drummond Group LLC, an Authorized Certification Body (ACB) that tests EHR software to ensure that it complies with ONC-Health IT’s Meaningful Use requirements. Providers that adopt and use the latest ONC-Health IT-certified EHRs are eligible for financial incentives available from federal payers through the Merit-Based Incentive Payments System (MIPS).

“One of our top priorities is to ensure that our clients are well positioned for positive payment adjustments related to CMS’s MIPS requirements,” said Brent Michael, ECL’s chief commercial officer. “We’re proud to provide technology that automates MIPS reporting requirements so that it’s easier for providers to qualify for Medicare reimbursement incentives,” added Michael. “That way, providers can focus on patient care and still realize the full financial potential of their practices.”

“Achieving ONC-Health IT’s latest certification across our family of products further proves that ECL is at the forefront of efforts to create a modern, interconnected, and dynamic EHR system,” said Mike Schmidt, director of certification and client success for Eye Care Leaders. “It shows we are pace-setters in the nationwide push to improve health record accessibility across the continuum of care—and ensuring that access is secure.”

“It’s an unprecedented move to certify nine different software platforms in one portfolio,” added Schmidt. “It solidifies ECL’s commitment to keeping our entire family of EHRs compliant during this period of ongoing regulatory change.”
