National Institute on Retirement Security Hosts 9th Annual Retirement Policy Conference

Event Features New Research on Retirement Plight of Millennial Generation

WASHINGTON--()--The National Institute on Retirement Security will hold its Ninth Annual Retirement Policy Conference, Refocusing Retirement: Taking the Long View, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at The Westin City Center located at 1400 M Street N.W. in Washington, D.C.

The conference will feature release of new research, Millennials & Retirement: Already Falling Short. This research examines the retirement plight of the Millennial generation, which faces enormous and unique challenges when it comes to preparing for retirement.

The opening speaker will be Gene Dodaro, United States Comptroller General and Head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). GAO recently released a report, The Nation's Retirement System: A Comprehensive Re-evaluation Is Needed to Better Promote Future Retirement Security, that details the nation's retirement savings shortfall.

Speakers also include:

  • Peter Orszag, Managing Director at Lazard and Former Office of Management & Budget Director
  • Mark Miller, Reuters Columnist and Author of Jolt

The event will include panel discussions on issues facing teacher pensions, investing for the long-term and how technology can re-frame retirement.
