Ward 8 Education Fair to Feature 30+ DC Schools

WASHINGTON--()--Parents of rising preschool through 12th grade students in Ward 8 are invited to an education fair Saturday, Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at DC Prep’s Anacostia Elementary campus located in historic Anacostia at 1409 V Street, SE.

Representatives from more than 30 neighborhood schools, including DCPS and public charter schools, will be available to provide information about their schools to parents. Parents can also learn about the My School DC 2018-19 application process and the range of school options available in Ward 8.

Invited guests and speakers include DC’s Deputy Mayor of Education – Jennifer Niles, My School DC’s Executive Director- Catherine Peretti, Ward 8 Councilmember - Trayon White, and more!

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2018, which will feature more than 32,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“DC Prep is honored to host an event where DCPS and fellow charter schools can come together for DC residents – especially Ward 8 families – to showcase the many public school options available,” said Sindy Tavarez, Director of Student Recruitment at DC Prep. “School choice a privilege that DC families have. We are so excited to welcome parents and our partner schools to our new state-of-the-art Anacostia Elementary Campus, which will serve preschool-2nd graders in the upcoming 2018-19 school year.”
