Fiskars’ Project Orange Thumb Accepting Grant Applications

30 community gardens to receive grants in 2018

MADISON, Wis.--()--Fiskars, a leading global supplier of consumer products for the home, garden and outdoors, is accepting applications for 2018 Project Orange Thumb garden grants in the U.S. and Canada now through February 2, 2018 at www.fiskars.com/projectorangethumb. Fiskars will award 30 applicants $3,500 in gift cards and tools in the coming year, with Project Orange Thumb having provided over $1.7 million to more than 210 community groups since the program began in 2002.

Fiskars’ Project Orange Thumb garden grants provide tools and resources to help communities reach their goals for neighborhood beautification, community collaboration and healthy, sustainable food sources.

With trends in the gardening space moving toward a growing sense of community and a heightened awareness of the farm-to-table movement, people are inspired to take part in projects that encourage community involvement. Farmers markets have become increasingly popular as well, putting a focus on locally grown produce and educating others on where their food comes from and its seasonality.

“At Fiskars, we know the positive impact a community garden can have,” said Fiskars Global President Paul Tonnesen. “Project Orange Thumb is a way for us to give back to the non-profit organizations across the U.S. and Canada looking to come together through gardening. It’s a program we look forward to each year.”
