NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PogoTec, Inc., an innovator in wearable devices, today announced that it has received a patent for its PogoTrack technology allowing for compatibility with more than 130 electronic devices. PogoTrack is an elegant metal track embedded in the temple design of modern eyewear that allows a PogoCam camera and other wearable devices to attach and detach magnetically to eyewear having a PogoTrack. PogoTec has presently licensed PogoTrack to three global frame manufacturers, including ClearVision Optical, FGX International and Argus Vision. PogoTec anticipates licensing other frame manufacturers and device manufacturers in 2018.
This newly granted patent causes eyewear having a PogoTrack to become a proprietary platform for attaching wearable devices. When a device is not attached, PogoTrack appears as a fashion design feature in the temple of eyewear. The global eyewear market is expected to witness significant growth and is projected to exceed $180.0 billion by 2024. The non-prescription sunglass market alone is expected to surpass 450 million units by 2024 (Global Market Insights, July 2017).
Until now, attaching or embedding a camera to eyewear by conventional techniques distracted from the cosmetic or fashion-look of eyeglasses as well as significantly reduced the selection. This patent addresses the shortcomings of wearable technology and electronics embedded in eyewear for the benefit of the consumer and comes days after the company announced the purchase availability of PogoCam, the world's smallest and lightest camera that unobtrusively attaches to virtually all eyewear so consumers can capture and share the world from their point of view.
