Aviatrix’s AWS Cloud Connectivity Validated in ESG Lab Report

Hands-on testing by ESG Lab highlights the business value of Aviatrix integration with AWS for organizations with hybrid cloud environments

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Aviatrix, a pioneer in cloud networking, today announced that Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) Lab has issued a report that validates the business value of integrating Aviatrix cloud connectivity software with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in hybrid cloud environments. The report, authored by Tony Palmer, a senior validation analyst at ESG, and Alex Arcilla, a validation consultant, is designed to help organizations with hybrid architectures find solutions for establishing optimized, efficient connectivity between their on-premises resources and AWS cloud resources.

According to the report: “ESG Lab confirmed that Aviatrix Cloud Interconnect enables its customers to create and manage a hybrid cloud environment that integrates with AWS by abstracting IP addresses, automating connections, and providing complete visibility into the network with a single management interface.... The data collected in this report can be used to better understand how the Aviatrix solution integrates with AWS and determine if it will serve an organization’s individual business needs and use cases.”

“Aviatrix is not an SD-WAN vendor, but our comprehensive cloud connectivity solution includes the SD-WAN capability of establishing connections between an enterprise’s datacenter or branch offices with AWS,” said Steven Mih, CEO of Aviatrix. “It’s gratifying to see validation of the value that the combined AWS/Aviatrix solution delivers to organizations with hybrid architectures. At Aviatrix, our goal is to make cloud networking as dynamic, scalable and elastic as cloud compute and storage.”

“We are 100 percent AWS and have been from the start,” said Aaron Chu, technical operations lead for Clara Lending, a technology-based lending company dedicated to saving people time, money and hassle getting a mortgage. “Aviatrix automates the deployment of multiple VPN connections to our VPCs so that our mortgage and engineering teams can do their jobs in a straightforward, secure and compliant manner—all without having to hire people with special networking skill sets.”

ESG and AWS Put Vendors to the Test

The ESG report evaluated providers of software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN), which is a subset of what the comprehensive Aviatrix cloud connectivity approach delivers. AWS commissioned ESG to review nine SD-WAN vendors and their ability to provide optimized, efficient connectivity to AWS under eight use cases. AWS requested that Aviatrix be included in this evaluation.

The ESG Lab review documents hands-on testing of the Aviatrix solution and how it integrates with AWS. The test plan for the nine vendors participating in the review had two sections: a questionnaire to assess features and capabilities, and test scenarios to assess throughput and availability. ESG met with Aviatrix, conducted interviews and investigated test scenarios onsite at its facility.

The ESG Lab review confirmed that Aviatrix Cloud Interconnect enables enterprises to connect all their sites—datacenters, virtual private clouds (VPCs) and branches. ESG Lab validated how Cloud Interconnect integrates with AWS and performs under all eight use cases tested, including link performance between instances deployed in two VPCs located in the US-East and US-West regions; support for high-availability deployments via route shifting; ability to interoperate with the AWS Virtual Private Gateway (VGW) and third-party edge routers; and the Aviatrix software’s operations dashboard to centrally visualize all VPCs, their subnets and the traffic flow.
