Acclaimed South African Documentary Photographer Brent Stirton Gears Up for a UAE Showcase

Stirton part of the Sharjah International Photography Festival that will feature 32 of the world’s most celebrated photographers and industry experts

SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates--()--As photography takes a leading role in telling some of the most inspiring and powerful stories around the world, Xposure, Sharjah’s first International Photography Festival, is to use its world-leading photography platform this November to bring award-winning photographers from around the world to share their inspiring stories.

It features Brent Stirton, South African photographer with an extensive history in the documentary world. Brent’s work has been published by National Geographic Magazine, GEO, Le Figaro, Le Monde, Vanity Fair, Newsweek, Time, The New York Times Magazine, The UK Sunday Times Magazine, and many other respected international titles.

Stirton’s work has appeared in numerous print shows around the world and his images are in several museum collections. He remains committed to issues relating to wildlife and conservation, global health, diminishing cultures, sustainability and the environment, and has been recognised by the United Nations for his work on the environment and in the field of HIV/AIDS.

Stirton guided a documentary on Virunga National Park in Conflict for National Geographic Television as well as appearing in the show. The documentary won the Emmy Award for Best Documentary Feature as well as a Bafta Award for Best Documentary.

Xposure 2017 will bring together a galaxy of renowned photographers and international and local experts to share their experiences with photography enthusiasts. The four-day event will include 27 photo exhibitions across different venues in Sharjah and Dubai.

The upcoming edition of the Festival, organised by Sharjah Government Media Bureau and taking place from November 22 – 25, 2017 at the Expo Centre Sharjah, will spark a region-wide engagement and inspiration through a gathering of 32 of the world’s most celebrated photographers.
