CURE® Magazine Announces Maria Menounos as Keynote Speaker for the 2017 GBM Heroes® Celebration Event

The event honors those who are dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by glioblastoma multiforme

CRANBURY, N.J.--()--CURE® magazine, the nation’s leading consumer digital and print media enterprise focused entirely on patients with cancer, is proud to announce that Maria Menounos, Emmy winning journalist, TV/radio host, brain tumor survivor and caregiver will be the keynote speaker for the 2017 GBM Heroes®. The annual celebration honors the heroes who have made a difference in the lives of people with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). This year’s gala, will take place on Nov. 16 at the City View at Metreon, San Francisco, California, during the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) Annual Conference.

“We are honored to be joined by Maria Menounos, who not only went through surgery for a brain tumor, but is also a caregiver to her mother, who is currently battling brain cancer. As the voice for cancer patients, caregivers, and medical professionals, we aim to support people like Maria and her mother by delivering the latest in glioblastoma multiforme research directly to the patients,” said Michael J. Hennessy Jr., president of Michael J. Hennessy Associates, parent company of CURE® magazine.

After her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer, Maria devoted her time to explore eastern and western treatments for brain cancer. While caring for her mother for a few short months, Maria was also diagnosed with brain tumor. After enduring an 8-hour long surgery, doctors confirmed that her “golf-ball” sized tumor was benign. Experiencing these hurdles has encouraged Maria to dedicate her time to work with families going through similar crisis.

Additionally, Maria is an Emmy winning journalist, New York Times bestselling author, and the CEO/co-founder of AfterBuzz TV. During her young yet successful career, Maria has delved into professional wrestling, acting and currently hosts a successful Sirius XM radio talk show, “Conversations with Maria”

GBM Heroes® shines the spotlight on individuals who have shown leadership in developing services and programs that address the needs of patients with GBM; their families, friends, and caregivers; and healthcare professionals by advancing the science and medical understanding of GBM, education, awareness, and/or approaches to care.
