Garmin® introduces the Impact bat swing sensor with on-device display to deliver instant feedback after every swing

OLATHE, Kan.--()--Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today announced the Impact™ bat swing sensor with on-device display to instantly deliver key metrics and feedback after every swing – without the need to view a phone or tablet. Made for batters of all skill levels, the Impact bat swing sensor is designed to help improve hand speed, bat speed and position to make training even more productive. Downloading the free Impact™ app to a compatible1 smartphone or tablet adds even more insight to every swing and can be customized for use with multiple players and different bats.

“Garmin has seen great success with our other sports products, like the golf swing sensor, so the addition of the Impact bat swing sensor to the performance training market seemed like a natural fit,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “Whether playing baseball or softball, or coaching players, the on-device display and auditory cues on the Impact bat swing sensor allow batters to quickly make adjustments so come game time they can step up to the plate with confidence.”

After every swing, hitters can instantly see the following key swing metrics on the sensor:

Bat speed: Create leverage to develop more bat speed in every swing.

Hand speed: Develop quick hands to get into the hitting zone faster.

Time to impact: Develop a short, compact swing to wait on pitches and see the ball longer.

Elevation angle: Control the bat through the critical hitting zone to create the highest exit velocity.

Attack angle: Develop the best swing path to drive the ball consistently.

In addition to the data displayed on the sensor itself, coaches and players can unlock even more value using the Impact app, which provides additional in-depth swing data. Profiles can be created for multiple batters that include age, baseball or softball and skill level, and the app will then determine swing metrics for comparison. While players stay in position, coaches can view near real-time swing analysis and a 3-D graphical representation of the batter’s swing and bat path. After every three swings, coaching tips and drills – developed by professional hitting coaches – are available to help make adjustments and improve the player’s swing.

Weighing just 34 grams, the Impact bat swing sensor features a robust and mechanical design while the included flexible rubber mount adapts to a wide range of bats and absorbs shock. It features up to 10 hours of battery life and has a suggested retail price of $149.99.
