Newegg Expands Its Portfolio with a New Maker Category for DIY Enthusiasts

Company Opens its Virtual Doors to the Maker Movement at Maker Faire San Diego 2017

LOS ANGELES--()--Newegg, the top tech-focused e-retailer in North America, today unveiled its new Maker Category dedicated to builders and DIY tech enthusiasts. The company announced its new offering ahead of the upcoming Maker Faire San Diego 2017 (Oct. 6-7), where Newegg will have a significant presence.

“Newegg’s early growth was fueled by people seeking out components to build their own PCs, which not only saved them money, but also let them build the perfect systems for their needs,” said Danny Lee, Newegg’s CEO. “The modern maker movement takes Newegg back to its roots as an online marketplace for tech enthusiasts to purchase the tools and goods to build whatever creations they dream up.”

Newegg’s maker store will feature categories commonly associated with the maker movement, including STEM products for younger builders, developer kits, drones, home automation and boards needed to build more complex projects. Maker Faire attendees and non-attendees alike can take advantage of great Maker Faire deals at www.newegg.com/Makers (sample deals listed below):

Newegg will display select products from companies such as Extreme Fliers, Makeblock, MSI, NVIDIA, Pai Technology, Robolink and Piper Computer during Maker Faire at its booth inside the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. The booth will feature a hands-on demo area where attendees will be able to test various products, such as maker boards and miniature drones. All products on display will be available for purchase on-site.

In addition to Newegg’s main booth, the company is sponsoring Maker Faire’s “Learn to Solder” area, where attendees receive instruction, experiment with various soldering techniques and make glowing LED Newegg badges.
