WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kaspersky Lab North America has become a Champion of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). By joining this initiative, the company becomes part of a growing global effort among businesses, government agencies, universities, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote cybersecurity education, online safety and privacy.
Recognized every October, NCSAM is a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure all digital citizens have the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online while also protecting their personal information.
Even as new malware, ransomware and phishing attacks target consumers every day, up to 40 percent of people are still leaving their devices unprotected from online threats, according to the Kaspersky Cybersecurity Index. As a NCSAM Champion, Kaspersky Lab joins hundreds of NCSAM partners in educating consumers on these threats and what steps they can take to stay safe in their digital lives.
“For 20 years, Kaspersky Lab has been dedicated to sharing research and insights on the constantly evolving cyber threat landscape with consumers and businesses worldwide,” said Todd Helmbrecht, senior vice president, marketing, Kaspersky Lab North America. “Becoming a National Cyber Security Awareness Month Champion provides us with another platform to share our cybersecurity knowledge and resources with more people, contributing to our overall mission of helping to save the world from cyber threats.”
Throughout the month of October, Kaspersky Lab will be joining the NCSAM conversation by sharing tips and educational resources on how to stay protected against online threats. Kaspersky Lab recommends that consumers adhere to the following cybersecurity best practices not just during NCSAM, but year-round:
- Use security software on all your devices and ensure all apps and programs are kept up-to-date with the latest software patches.
- Routinely back up all important digital assets.
- Create strong passwords, picking different ones for each new site and account.
- When available, activate two-factor authentication to increase the security of your accounts.
For consumers who want to take action to protect their devices with robust security technology, Kaspersky Lab offers award-winning, multi-platform solutions including Kaspersky Total Security, Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Anti-Virus. These products provide a full range of advanced features including System Watcher, which protects against ransomware. Other advanced features include Safe Money, Secure Connection and Parental Controls, which help to safeguard consumer’s digital lives.
