SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Samsung Device Solutions America hosted the seventh-annual “Gears for Giving” charity event last week, where it was joined by hundreds of participants including Samsung and Cisco employees to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Gears for Giving is a bike, walk, run and cheer event that originated at Samsung Device Solutions America headquarters in Silicon Valley. This year’s event included the option for a 10-mile bike ride on the Guadalupe trail, and either a 3-mile run or 1.5-mile walk through the local area in support of St. Jude. Participants that did not cycle, run or walk had the opportunity to participate by cheering on the athletes at the start and finish of the event.

This year we set a goal for Samsung Device Solutions America to make Gears for Giving the largest event on the West Coast for St. Jude in the fight against childhood cancer and life-threatening diseases,” said Scott Birnbaum, vice president and executive sponsor of Gears for Giving event for Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. “This year’s event has been one of our most impactful yet as we raised more than $80,000 as we united to bike, walk, run and cheer in support of St. Jude’s important mission.”

Now in its seventh year, Gears for Giving is a local community event that brings Samsung and neighbors like Cisco together for this critical cause. Since its inception, the effort has raised more than $300,000 for St. Jude, with contributions coming from Samsung and Cisco employees, as well as matching corporate donations from the companies. Others are encouraged to donate by visiting the St. Jude website to contribute.
