Increased adoption of cloud applications

In the past few years, businesses have started operating using cloud-based applications such as SharePoint, Dropbox, and Microsoft Office. Cloud-based applications remain an integral part of all the enterprises adopting cloud-based services. Traditional data centers refer to hardware that stores data on the premises within organizations in business. Cloud-based data center is an off-premises form of computing data that is stored on the Internet. The challenges in the cloud-based data centers include the need for ensuring security in private, public, and hybrid clouds. This need for security provides ADNs an opportunity to manage the security, addressing visibility, and performance needs of the businesses.

Thus, the increasing adoption of cloud services is driving the market for ADN. Technavio reports that the global spending on public cloud services is expected to grow to USD 130 billion by 2021, which augurs well for the growth of the AND market.

Distributed workforce and globalization

A distributed workforce is the workforce beyond the office environment, and it is dispersed geographically over a wide area. Thus, businesses are required to depend more on web applications and web access to applications that allow personnel to access data from anywhere and anytime. With the increased adoption of BYOD, the employees are expected to have network access from their homes as the use of personal devices provides convenience. However, BYOD will have high-security risks and bandwidth bottlenecks.

According to Jujhar Singh, a lead analyst at Technavio for embedded systems research, “ADN reduces traffic filtering, which can save time and eliminate traffic before it reaches the user who uses the distributed workforce. Thus, service providers must balance IT infrastructure security with client end-user devices. WAN optimization and application acceleration tools, such as server consolidation, reduce response time, control bandwidth costs, and support cost reduction.”

Rise of DDoS attacks

Cyber criminals are targeting data centers of intelligence organizations and the military. Cyber criminals are spreading across the globe, and the attack types are diversified. Distributed denial of services (DDoS) is an example of diversified attacks. DDoS attackers are targeting network endpoints called botnets. Botnets are defined as computing devices or IoT devices. The size of DDoS is more than 600 Gbps and more than 1 Tbps for new DDoS. Business organizations increasingly rely on the protection of DDoS solutions to enhance protection.

“The increase in cyber-threats is leading to an increase in demand for ADNs. Cyber criminals enter the protocol to hide the malware within the encrypted channels and carry the attacks against business applications or cloud-based services. ADN enables SSL inspection against layer 7 attacks. Thus, a rise in DDoS attacks increases the use of ADNs in all the enterprises as well as in data centers, which will lead to the growth of the global ADN market,” says Jujhar.
