Rent-A-Center Expands Hurricane Relief Efforts Due to Irma

PLANO, Texas--()--Rent-A-Center, Inc., (RAC) a rent-to-own industry leader, announced today it has expanded its nationwide Harvey efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Irma, including coworkers in Puerto Rico, Florida and those states in its forecasted path.

Coworkers and Their Families

Today, Rent-A-Center expanded its GoFundMe campaign originally created to help coworkers who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. The RAC Hurricane Coworker Relief now will raise money for all coworkers and their families impacted by hurricanes in 2017. Mark Speese, Chief Executive Officer of Rent-A-Center, announced the company would match up to $25,000 in donations to be disbursed to RAC families to help them get back on their feet.

Today, coworkers and others across the nation had raised nearly $23,060.

Fill the Fridge Food Bank Campaign

Rent-A-Center also has extended its national hunger relief campaign until the end of October in hopes that more money will be raised to fund areas hit hardest by hurricanes. A portion of the $150,000 RAC hopes to raise will go directly to food banks depleted by the heavy demand brought on by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. RAC is partnering with the largest domestic hunger-relief organization, Feeding America, which has a network of 200 food banks nationwide.

Customers throughout the country can head to their nearest Rent-A-Center, Home Choice, Get It Now, RimTyme, ColorTyme or ANOW kiosk and donate one of three ways:

The fundraising campaign, called “Fill the Fridge,” takes place in all of Rent-A-Center’s Core U.S. stores, its AcceptanceNOW kiosk locations in third party retailers, Rent-A-Center Franchising, Inc., and Home Choice and Get It Now! stores.
