Bank of America Merchant Services Pledges Support for Employee Service in the National Guard and Reserve

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--()--In partnership with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, Bank of America Merchant Services’ CEO Tim Tynan signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve during a special ceremony on August 23, 2017 at the company’s Charlotte location.

“Together, we all serve,” Tynan remarked, quoting a key ESGR tenet. “We have a responsibility to give back. It’s not only the right thing to do – to hire Reservists and Guardsmen – but it makes our company better.”

By signing the Statement of Support, Bank of America Merchant Services pledges it will:

  • Fully recognize, honor and comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Provide managers and supervisors with the necessary tools needed to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • Appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
  • Recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

“Today, supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units,” said Tom Bullock, ESGR Chief of Employer Engagement. “The ESGR Statement of Support program is the cornerstone of ESGR’s efforts to gain and maintain employer support. The intent of this program is to increase employer support by encouraging participating employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military. Bank of America Merchant Services is setting a high standard for all financial industry corporations to follow by providing above and beyond support of the nation’s veterans, many of whom currently serve in the National Guard and Reserve.”
