Wallflower Labs Launches Smart Stove Monitor to Help Reduce Cooking-Related Residential Fires

BOSTON--()--Wallflower Labs announced today the release of its Smart Monitor for electric stoves. The patent-pending stove monitoring solution goes on sale today and can be purchased directly from the company on their website, http://www.wallflower.com.

Cooking-related fires are the number one cause of home fires in the United States. Wallflower’s smart home sensor is aiming to reduce deaths, injuries, and financial loss, turning any existing stove into a smart appliance that alerts homeowners of high-risk situations involving their stove—e.g., it was turned on by an unattended child; someone forgot to turn it off; someone left home with the stove on.

“Forgetting to shut off the stove is more common than people realize and causes too many deaths, thousands of injuries, and billions of dollars in losses every year. After I almost burned my house down, I decided to leverage the latest smart home technologies to solve the problem and help us all live safer. Homeowners who rent their primary residence on platforms such as Airbnb.com may feel uneasy about having guests use the stove and our product can deliver peace of mind and lower the risk of damage caused by forgetful visitors. I’m extremely proud of our team; their hard work has resulted in the release of a product that will help many and should be in every home,” said Victor Jablokov, CEO and Founder of Wallflower Labs.

With nearly 5,000,000 cooking-related fires happening every year, homeowners that install the Wallflower Stove Monitor will reduce their risk of a cooking fire thanks to better awareness around the most dangerous appliance in their home. They will also be able to monitor multiple homes, protecting both their primary residence and income properties.

In development since 2014, the Wallflower Smart Stove Monitor has gone through extensive in-home trials and has been independently tested and certified by Intertek as compliant to North American safety standards. The company is currently working on a gas stove compatible monitoring solution and is in talks with major insurance providers to deliver insurance discounts to homeowners that purchase and install the Wallflower Stove Monitor.
