David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Perform The X-Files: Cold Cases for Audible

Exclusive Original Audio Drama Features Stars of the Award-Winning TV Series in an Adaptation by Award-Winning Producer Dirk Maggs

NEWARK, N.J.--()--Audible Studios, a production arm of Audible.com, today announced the release of The X-Files: Cold Cases, an exclusive original audio production starring Golden Globe award-winner David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Golden Globe and Emmy award-winner Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully. Joining Duchovny and Anderson are series regulars Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man), and Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood (the Lone Gunmen). The recording is based on the fan-favorite graphic novels by Joe Harris, which were created with direction from series creator Chris Carter. Adapted for audio by aural auteur Dirk Maggs, this thrilling addition to the X-Files oeuvre is now available for download at Audible.com/xfiles.

“Narrating The X-Files: Cold Cases and bringing the X-Files universe to the audio format for Audible has been a whole new experience,” said Gillian Anderson. “This is the very first time one of Joe Harris’ graphic novels has been made into an audio project and fans will lose themselves in this rich story.”

Adapted and directed by Maggs, best-known for his work on Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (BBC), Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere (BBC) and Alien: River of Pain (Audible), The X-Files: Cold Cases provides a never-before-told backstory following the events of the film, The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Along with the series’ iconic theme music, The X-Files: Cold Cases features an otherworldly soundscape of liquefying aliens, hissing creatures, and humming spacecraft, as the adventures of Mulder and Scully come to life in an electrifying new medium.

“Audible Studios has conjured the world of Mulder and Scully and The X-Files with the enthusiastic participation of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and other members of the classic cast,” said producer Dirk Maggs. “These adventures, based on Joe Harris’s stories, are intense, fast-moving and witty, and nothing beats the experience of losing yourself in an audio universe.”

“Fans of the X-Files TV show and the graphic novels will be enthralled by the other worldly heroes, monsters and villains in these stories,” said Audible EVP and Publisher Beth Anderson. “Uncovering the truth as events unfold in The X-Files Cold Cases is an entertaining listening experience like no other.”

The X-Files series originally premiered in September 1993, rising from a breakout sci-fi favorite to one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award. Twentieth-Century Fox’s reboot of the X-Files TV series has brought more critical acclaim; Season 11 is currently in production, slated for 2018.

IDW Publishing publishes more than 20 years’ worth of The X-Files graphic novels, and continues to release new volumes of paranormal mystery.
