PhishMe® Files Second Intellectual Property Enforcement Action Against Wombat Security Technologies, Inc.

LEESBURG, Va.--()--PhishMe Inc., the leading provider of human-phishing defense solutions, announced today that it has filed a second patent infringement lawsuit against Wombat Security Technologies, Inc. (“Wombat”) in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. PhishMe’s complaint alleges that Wombat infringes PhishMe’s U.S. Patent Nos. 9,591,017 (the ’017 Patent) and 9,674,221 (the ’221 Patent). A copy of the complaint is available here. PhishMe previously initiated a patent infringement lawsuit against Wombat in 2016. In that lawsuit, which remains pending, PhishMe asserts that Wombat infringes U.S. Patent No. 9,398,038 (the ’038 Patent). In both lawsuits, PhishMe alleges that Wombat’s ThreatSim, PhishAlarm, and PhishAlarm Analyzer solutions illegally use PhishMe’s patented technology.

The ’017 and ’221 Patents are the most recent additions to PhishMe’s patent portfolio, which now includes more than a dozen issued U.S. patents. PhishMe’s patents reflect its position as a leading innovator in phishing defense solutions, which PhishMe obtained through its unending commitment to research and development. In addition to the ’017, ’221, and ’038 Patents, PhishMe’s portfolio includes: U.S. Patent Nos. 8,719,940, 9,253,207, 9,325,730, and 9,356,948, which protect PhishMe Reporter; U.S. Patent Nos. 8,635,703, 8,966,637, 9,246,936, and 9,667,645, which protect PhishMe’s benchmarking technologies; U.S. Patent Nos. 8,615,807 and 9,053,326, which protect PhishMe’s sequential phishing messages technologies; and U.S. Patent Nos. 8,910,287 and 9,262,629, which protect PhishMe’s technologies related to privacy for campaign email addresses.

“PhishMe has initiated this second lawsuit because we believe that Wombat is continuing to infringe upon our intellectual property,” said Rohyt Belani, PhishMe’s CEO and Co-founder. “PhishMe is committed to bringing the most innovative solutions to market, and we will vigorously enforce our patent rights to ensure that our technological developments are protected.”
