Michigan Virtual Charter Academy to Hold In-Person Graduation Ceremony

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--()--Michigan Virtual Charter Academy (MVCA), a full-time online public charter school, authorized by Grand Valley State University and serving grades K-12, will hold a commencement ceremony for the Class of 2017 on Saturday, June 17th.

One hundred seventy-five students will graduate from MVCA, which combines an engaging online curriculum with hands-on materials and the support of Michigan-licensed teachers. MVCA provides courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as elective and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students.

The program offers advanced learners the ability to progress faster in subjects in which they excel, as well as opportunities for advancement in STEM education. Additionally, MVCA offers dual enrollment, which allows qualified students to earn college credit and high school credit for the same course.

Members of the Class of 2017 report being accepted to the following colleges and universities: Michigan State University, Schoolcraft College, North Central College, Grand Rapids Community College, Wayne Community College, Alpena Community College, Spring Arbor University, Saginaw Valley State University and Lansing Community College.

Royce Kinniebrew, President of the Kinniebrew Group and appointee for the Metropolitan Detroit Alliance for Black School Educators, will serve as the ceremony’s keynote speaker.
