TechLaunch @ FVI Partners with CareerSource South Florida to Launch Tech Bootcamps for Miami High School Students this Summer

MIAMI--()--TechLaunch @ FVI has partnered with CareerSource South Florida to host six week Cybersecurity and Game Development summer tech bootcamps for youth between the ages of 15-22 at Miami Norland High School, Homestead Senior High School, and Big Brother Big Sister TechHire.Miami Center. Learn about other participating schools and how to apply here. Eligible Students earn a $300 stipend for completion of the program and an additional $200 for obtaining an industry credential.

“This is a powerful opportunity to empower the high school youth of Miami by making them aware of careers in technology and sparking an interest in the high demand careers of web development and cyber security,” said Arnie Girnun, Co-Chair of TechHire.Miami and Chief Success officer of techLaunch @ FVI.

Between 2016-2024, more than 3,200 new tech jobs are projected to become available in Miami-Dade County, with an additional 2,409 jobs opening due to attrition. TechHire, a multi-sector national initiative launched in 2015 by former President Barack Obama to create a pipeline of Americans with technology skills, has allowed for CareerSource to partner with various agencies around Miami-Dade County - including TechLaunch at FVI - to provide up to six weeks of training in Auto CAD, Cybersecurity, CompTIAA+, Gaming, Programming/Coding, and Web Development.
