BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UC Berkeley Extension announces the launch of its Data Analytics Boot Camp, a 24-week skills-development program that teaches the fundamental data science and analytics skills increasingly sought after in today’s data-driven digital economy. This launch comes at a time when the projected investment in data science is at an all-time high, with the worldwide big data analytics market expected to reach $200 billion by 2020.
The Data Analytics Boot Camp, offered in partnership with Trilogy Education Services, will start on June 20, 2017, and is designed to accommodate the schedules of working professionals by offering two 3-hour evening classes during the week (6:30-9:30 pm) and a 4-hour class on Saturdays (10 am-2 pm).
“The Berkeley Data Analytics Boot Camp is the next logical step in meeting our mission of teaching job-ready skills to help students succeed in the digital economy,” said Diana Wu, Dean of UC Berkeley Extension. “Based on our previous successes working with Trilogy to implement Coding Boot Camps, we are looking forward to rolling out this new program together.”
“It is currently predicted that by 2018, there will be 1.5 million more data science job openings than candidates to fill these positions,” said Dan Sommer, Founder and CEO of Trilogy Education. “The Berkeley Data Analytics Boot Camp is one more example of the power of continuing education to help provide students with job-ready technical skills, while providing a much-needed talent pipeline to employers. We look forward to collaborating with UC Berkeley Extension on this program.”
Students will also receive a range of career-planning services, portfolio reviews, recruiting assistance and extensive staff support. Area businesses participating in the Berkeley Data Analytics Boot Camp’s employer network will advise on curriculum, products and student needs. While no previous training or experience is required, applicants should have an understanding of coding basics.
