LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pro Football Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson joined UnitedHealthcare and community leaders today to unveil new playground equipment and distribute 200 backpacks to students at Horace Mann Elementary School.
Tomlinson of the Los Angeles Chargers was joined by Donna McKeehan-Marr, principal of Horace Mann Elementary School, and Meghan Newkirk of UnitedHealthcare of California at a school assembly this morning.
A $22,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare to Horace Mann Elementary and Blessings in a Backpack funded the playground equipment and a weekly backpack distribution of healthy food to 100 students who may otherwise have little or no healthy food to eat on weekends during the school year.
