Massage Envy to Offer New Total Body Care Services and Remodel Franchises

Pioneer of Affordable Massage & Skincare Memberships Primed to Grow Worldwide with Expanded Services, Completely New Store Design and Branding

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--Heading into a new era of domestic and international growth, Massage Envy is actively recruiting franchisees to open clinics in new U.S. and overseas markets, adding a variety of new Total Body Care services to its membership package and give over 700 of its more than 1,170 existing locations a complete facelift.

After first introducing U.S. consumers to the professional, convenient and affordable massage and skincare membership model 15 years ago, Massage Envy clinics will gradually be re-imaged with subtle colors, new furniture and an overall new look in waiting areas, break rooms, treatment rooms and bathrooms.

The brand’s new logo emphasizes “ME” – a visual and symbolic shift to total body care that includes customized massages and facials, microdermabrasion, stretch therapy, magnetic taping and chemical peels. The new services will be offered this year.

Even as it continues to open an average of three new clinics a month, Massage Envy is actively seeking multi-unit franchisees to fill out available territories in the Northwest, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast regions, as well as internationally. The first international location opened in Australia in May of 2016. Lee Knowlton, Senior Vice President for International Sales and Global and Massage Envy, says franchise candidates are attracted to the recurring revenue that comes with the brand’s membership model and its category leader status.

“Franchisees like the idea that they don’t have to worry on a day-to-day basis if customers will walk through their doors. In essence, with our membership model, they can predict their business better and more easily than other concepts,” said Knowlton, noting that each clinic averages about 1,400 members. “The objective of the refreshed look and total body care package is to increase the number of services we offer and raise our per-location membership average even more.”

Knowlton said Massage Envy employs experts in every facet of business ownership – including real estate, design, construction, marketing, training and operations – to set franchisees up for success.

The leading membership-based concept in its industry, Massage Envy believes in total body care to help each of its members – no matter the age – become the best version of themselves so that they can do more of what they love to do every day. By making therapeutic massage services and skin care solutions accessible in its network of franchised locations across the United States, total body care is becoming a daily routine for more than 1.65 million members.

Each customer membership, however, will still be at an affordable cost – generally around $60 per month – so that individuals can get the best experience for an affordable rate. With many therapists at Massage Envy holding second jobs at big-name spas, members can get a high-quality massage and other services every time they visit, but at a significant discount, at any Massage Envy location across the world.

Founded in 2002, Massage Envy has embraced the franchise model since its inception and has grown to more than 1,170 establishments in both the United States (49 out of 50 states) and Australia, with further development plans scheduled at the international level. Its membership-based business attributed to the brand’s astronomical success rate, with 99.1 percent of its original stores still open since its inception.

President and CEO Joe Magnacca, who joined the company last year, prioritized innovation, including an Innovation Department that is focused solely on new way ways to move the company forward and add value to customers and franchisees such as technology enhancements to help members easily book appointments.

"Our membership model transformed the massage and skincare industry. We are continuing to evolve our brand on all fronts to remain the leader and best serve health-minded consumers here and around the world," Magnacca said.
