MELBOURNE, Fla.--()--A world-class air show, aircraft delivery milestone, tenant expansions and national air service development conference highlight Aviation Excellence Week at Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) in Florida March 31 – April 6.

The weeklong schedule of events bring a well-deserved spotlight on the growing airport and the business sectors expanding airside at MLB.

Airside tenant Embraer Executive Jet kicked off the festivities today with the delivery of its 400th Phenom 300 business jet assembled on the MLB campus. The Phenom 300 has been the best -selling business jet in the world for four years running, and Embraer has quadrupled its presence at MLB.

Tomorrow, April 1, tens of thousands of spectators will descend on the airport for the Melbourne Air and Space Show, joined Monday, April 3, by hundreds of aviation colleagues from airline and airport sectors for a national air service development conference. The air show features the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds as well as the French Air Force aerobatic team Patrouille de France which is returning to the USA after a 30-year absence. Both are hosted by Apex Executive Jet Center which is celebrating the expansion of its FBO facilities adjacent to its 28,000 sq. ft. hangar under construction.

MLB Executive Director Greg Donovan, A.A.E. welcomed the teams with enthusiasm (see photo). Air Show Sponsor Northrop Grumman recently landed the largest DOD contract in U.S. history to design the nation’s long range strike bomber (B-21) at MLB and is showcasing unique aircraft as part of the air show’s static displays.

“Presenting four air shows in three years is a daunting task, but our airport authority saw the value in showcasing this airport’s attributes to tourism, airline and business prospects," said MLB Executive Director Greg Donovan, A.A.E. “It was the right decision and is paying enviable dividends to this airport and this community. Hosting the national air service development conference is another smart move. The momentum in Melbourne is more than a branding statement, this week shows the reality of a shared vision. These events showcase the tangible growth that has been achieved by team MLB and I am grateful for our employees’ dedication to excellence.”
