Confluent Delivers First-ever Certification Program for Apache KafkaTM

Confluent Certification Program designed to meet rising demand for developers and administrators with Apache Kafka skills

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Confluent, provider of the only streaming platform based on Apache KafkaTM, today announced the industry’s first certification program for Apache Kafka. The Confluent Certification Program will be available to people who have taken courses through Confluent University as well as those who have learned Apache Kafka on their own. Exams for the two certifications, Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka (CCDK) and Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka (CCAK), demonstrate an individual’s level of knowledge of Apache Kafka and show they are experts in either developing applications that interact with Kafka, or administering and operating Kafka clusters.

“Amid all the new data sources being ingested by companies today, there is an increasing shift away from batch-oriented to continuously streaming data processing. Many companies have little or no experience of dealing with streaming data. It’s totally new. They often have no streaming platform in place and are not skilled up to handle it,” said Mike Ferguson, managing director at Intelligent Business Strategies. “The training certification from Confluent on the use of Kafka to build stream processing applications to manage streaming data is sorely needed. It will likely gain a lot of traction as sensor data, clickstream, social media data and IOT data start to flood into the enterprise.”

According to Burning Glass, Apache Kafka is one of the hardest tech skills to find and open job positions typically take over two months to fill. With this certification, developers and administrators can now use this achievement as a differentiator in the job market. Employers seeking candidates with Apache Kafka skills can also easily identify high-quality job candidates.

“We’ve trained over 1,000 developers to date, and we’re seeing a growing demand from both employees and individuals for certification as a way to prove competency,” said Ian Wrigley, director of education services at Confluent. “As the company founded by Kafka’s creators, we’re uniquely positioned to help educate and certify Kafka users.”

The first certification exams will be administered in April 2017 and will be priced at $295 each. For more information and to sign up, please visit: https://www.confluent.io/certification/.

Confluent will be at Strata + Hadoop World San Jose at booth #1431 this week. Stop by to learn more about streaming platforms as well as the certification program.
