Volaris Links Mexico City to Houston

  • Volaris expands its presence in Houston with new route to Mexico City

MEXICO CITY--()--Volaris (NYSE: VLRS) (BMV: VOLAR), the ultra-low cost Mexican airline that operates in Mexico, the United States and Central America, inaugurates an additional route to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TX (IAH). The new route now links two of the most dynamic cities in North America.

This new route is part of Volaris expansion strategy in US key destinations. Volaris started operations in Houston with a nonstop service from Guadalajara in 2015.

"We are thrilled to add this new route to our operations in Houston. We now connect these two important economic centers via a simple, fast and efficient flight. This aligns with our point-to-point strategy and our business model of bringing families and friends together. We continue to make improvements to our customers’ travel experience through increased connectivity between the U.S. and Mexico and continuously-improved customer service,” said Miguel Aguiñiga, Director of Market Development and Distribution of Volaris.

Houston is a major market for Volaris due to the large percentage of the population with a Mexican heritage. This important demographic makes the city a key location for Volaris’ expansion. In addition, Houston represents one of the most important energy markets in the United States. It is a high-traffic city located on the Gulf of Mexico’s coast and has access to numerous ports throughout the Americas.

“Passengers at Bush Airport continue to enjoy an unprecedented level of connectivity with Latin America and Volaris’ commitment to Houston is helping to make that connection even stronger,” Houston Aviation Director Mario Diaz said. “This new non-stop service to Mexico City complements the continued expansion of the international service available at Bush Airport and will provide Volaris’ customers with even better access to our dynamic, growing city and all that it offers.”
