Canada’s BC Education Marketplace Selects Traversa Transportation Management Solution from Tyler Technologies

First province-wide instance of Traversa will be hosted in Canadian database

PLANO, Texas--()--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed an agreement with the BC Education Marketplace (BCEM) in British Columbia, Canada, for Tyler’s Traversa® student transportation management software. This will be Tyler’s first provincial Corporate Supply Arrangement (CSA) for Traversa. The agreement includes software licenses, professional services, training and support.

BCEM, a K-12 public school district initiative that helps districts establish shared contracts for products and services, issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) in June of 2016 in search of an efficient and integrated transportation management solution. BCEM required functionality for routing, fleet maintenance, and other office operations, and sought a solution that was easy and cost effective for districts to implement and operate. Tyler’s focus on the public sector, Traversa’s scalability, and Traversa’s prior implementations in similar-sized districts were all factors in the successful bid result.

“BCEM’s first priority is to meet the needs of BC school districts through collaborative procurement initiatives like the one for bus route optimization software just signed with Tyler Technologies,” said BCEM Director Maria Melan. “The system will be piloted in eight BC school districts in early 2017. We look forward to a successful relationship with the company as our districts choose to implement this solution.”

As a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, Traversa scales to meet the various needs of each individual district. Tyler will host Traversa in Canada and will place employees locally to best support and meet the needs of BCEM and other Canadian clients. Deploying Traversa in this manner will allow BCEM to meet British Columbia’s strict privacy regulations.

Participating BC school districts will have access to Tyler’s evergreen perpetual licensing approach that provides regular and significant, yet manageable, software enhancements without an additional relicensing fee, ensuring all systems are using the latest technology. Current British Columbia school districts already using Tyler’s Versatrans® will have the option to upgrade to Traversa when they are ready to do so.

“The scalability and flexibility that makes Traversa so unique appealed to BCEM and met their goal of having a single solution that would work effectively and meet the needs of individual districts,” said Ted Thien, vice president and general manager for Tyler’s transportation group. “We’re excited to apply our deep public sector experience to this new contractual relationship with the BC Education Marketplace, and we look forward to helping participating districts throughout British Columbia better manage their transportation needs.”

Tyler currently provides K-12 transportation solutions to school districts in five Canadian jurisdictions, including Yukon Territory and the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta and British Columbia.
