NEW YORK--()--HRS, the world’s leading provider of end-to-end solutions for corporate hotel programs, added more than 2,000 extended-stay units in the United States in 2016. The push to add this inventory – available at competitive corporate rates – matches steadily increasing demand from corporate travel programs for this segment.

HRS, which serves hotel programs at 40,000 corporations worldwide, including more than 3,000 multi-national firms, gives extended stay providers easy access to a broad range of corporate travel programs and business travelers. In North America, HRS tripled the number of corporate accounts it works with in 2016. These companies cumulatively represent more than $800 million in annual lodging spend.

“HRS’ deep roster of corporate clients makes this relationship an easy win for us on the distribution front,” said Carrie Hartman, vice president of global sales for ABODA, a leading global provider of extended-stay units. “HRS brings us both domestic and international guests, and the potential to fill more room nights in large and secondary business city centers.” ABODA added units in select metropolitan locations to HRS distribution channels in January 2017.

Extended-stay units account for approximately $10 billion in hospitality revenues annually. Extended stay units, typically priced for guests staying multiple consecutive nights, account for nearly eight percent of all hotel rooms in the U.S., In addition, many traditional properties increasingly allocate inventory for extended stay purposes.

Demand for extended-stay units grew throughout 2016. “After six consecutive years of annual room revenue growth ranging from 6 to 13 percent, we project extended-stay room revenues to increase five to seven percent in 2017,” said Mark Skinner, a partner at The Highland Group. “We forecast corporate demand to account for 70 percent of extended-stay bookings this year.” The Highland Group will release its 2016 summation and detailed 2017 projection for the extended-stay segment in March.

HRS’ extended-stay additions – particularly in high-demand metro areas like Chicago, New York City and Washington, DC – help its clients cover all their lodging needs at competitive corporate rates. HRS is aggressively adding inventory that matches growing demand from corporate travel programs using HRS’ portal for lodging services. Representatives from HRS will be at the upcoming Corporate Housing Providers Association annual conference in California next week, educating hoteliers and other hospitality entities about its ability to drive corporate traffic.

“More hospitality providers are in tune with this component of business travel, and they are actively taking steps to gain access to corporations that can steer volume to their location,” said Robert Ambrozy, director of hotel solutions in North America for HRS. “As demand continues to rise in 2017, HRS is committed to taking a leading role in engaging extended-stay providers and facilitating access to more higher-yielding corporate guests.”
