Creating High School Entrepreneurs: INCubatoredu Teachers are Energized by Project Based Learning for Engaging Students, Developing Their Critical Thinking Skills and More

Three INCubatoredu High Schools Take to the Stage at SXSWedu -- the Prestigious National Innovation and Education Conference

BARRINGTON, Ill.--()--How the teaching of entrepreneurship in high schools is a perfect match for project based learning methods – that’s the focus of a panel featuring INCubatoredu schools at SXSWedu, the renowned national conference on innovation in education held March 6-9, 2017 in Austin, Texas.

The panel, Entrepreneurship Ignites Project Based Learning, features three INCubatoredu member schools, including Austin’s David Crockett High School and Westlake High School, as well as Barrington High School in Illinois.

INCubatoredu is a popular program developed by Uncharted Learning to provide students with an authentic entrepreneurship experience aimed at developing new product and service innovations. Student teams compete to take business ideas from concept to successful funding in a learning incubator environment designed to replicate real entrepreneurship challenges.

“INCubatoredu goes beyond the textbook to immerse students in the everyday challenges of building a business,” said Margarita Geleske, Co-Executive Director, of Uncharted Learning, the organization that created INCubatoredu. “Teaching entrepreneurship is a natural fit for project based learning – as students drive their own learning in attempting to conceive, fund, and launch a real business. Student choice and student-driven inquiry results in more deeply engaged students and deeper, more sustained learning” she added.

Uncharted Learning’s programs – including INCubatoredu – are now offered in more than 100 schools across 13 states and involve more than 4000 students.
