NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In honor of Black History Month, the Museum of American Finance will open “For the Love of Money: Blacks on US Currency,” a traveling exhibit on loan from the Museum of UnCut Funk.
WHAT: Members of the press are invited to attend a press conference to open “For the Love of Money,” an exhibit featuring the historic contributions of prominent Black men and women showcased on more than 40 commemorative coins, medals and medallions, and the legislation that brought them to bear. The exhibit honors barrier-breaking Black athletes, entertainers, civil rights leaders, military leaders and politicians and represents American and Black history milestones that have contributed to the betterment of the United States, from 18th century anti-slavery tokens through the latest Presidential bronze medals honoring Barack Obama.
WHO: “For the Love of Money” was curated by the Museum of UnCut Funk and will be on view at the Museum of American Finance, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. The opening press conference will feature remarks by Loreen Williamson, Co-Curator of the Museum of UnCut Funk, and Maura Ferguson, Director of Exhibits at the Museum of American Finance.
WHEN: Wednesday, February 22, from 10-11 am. The exhibit will remain open following the press conference.
