Friends of Mosaic Academy to Raise Funds, Awareness during School Choice Week

Local business leaders, school staff & school families to continue working towards new building goals

AZTEC, N.M.--()--The Friends of Mosaic Academy will host its 2nd Annual Jubilee of School Choice to raise funds for the construction of a permanent educational facility for students.

The festivities begin on Friday, January 20 at 7 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in Farmington, N.M. The theme for this year’s celebration is a Hollywood-esque “Reach for the Stars” motif, as the group continues to raise funds for the construction of a new permanent education facility for Mosaic Academy Charter School.

Vangie Garza Neil of the Aztec Chamber of Commerce will act as Master of Ceremonies. Student performances, live Jazz music, and an elegant dinner are on the evening’s agenda. The keynote speakers include Connie Dove of Dove Property Advisors, who specializes in charter school development and has located, secured, financed and developed permanent facilities for many New Mexico charter and private schools.

Mosaic Academy is a public charter school in the Aztec Municipal Schools district, serving 180 students in grades K – 8.

The goal of the event is to celebrate great education choices in New Mexico and raise awareness among parents about school choice. The celebration is timed to take place right before National School Choice Week (January 22-28, 2017), which will feature more than 21,000 events across the country.

"Friends of Mosaic Academy is participating in National School Choice Week because we strongly believe that parents have the right to choose the best educational setting for their child and are looking forward to providing another option for New Mexico families," said Aleshia Raether, secretary for the organization.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 21,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
