UCLA Anderson Hosts Third CES® Conference

Event brings together innovations from big tech, startups and university labs

LOS ANGELES--()--The Easton Technology Management Center at UCLA Anderson School of Management, in association with student-run Anderson Tech Business Association, is hosting its third annual CES® conference. The free event is in partnership with and follows the CES® held annually in Las Vegas by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which showcases the latest innovations in consumer electronics.

The CES® event at UCLA Anderson will highlight some of the newest emerging technologies through featured speakers and panel discussions from various industries in the Executive Dining Room, 11:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., along with numerous exhibitors, 4:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m., on January 12, 2017.

“This third edition of the CES at Anderson will feature the latest innovations in terms of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and virtual reality,” says Guillaume Roels, UCLA Anderson associate professor of decisions, operations and technology management and faculty director of the Easton Technology Management Center. “Technology innovations, such as self-driving cars and computers detecting credit fraud or making health care recommendations, which seemed so far-fetched a few years ago, have now become reality. We are very excited to bring together a distinguished set of speakers and panelists to discuss their business implications.”

According to CTA Communications & Strategic Relationships SVP Jeff Joseph, “In many ways, our [CTA] mission parallels that of UCLA Anderson, in working to ‘Invest in the Next’, promote innovation and introduce the world to new technologies. The CES @Anderson event provides an opportunity to place a spotlight on the next great range of innovation, the next great generation of technological breakthroughs.”

Keynote addresses will be delivered by Neil Sahota, worldwide business development leader and master inventor, at IBM Watson Group; and Ravi Sawhney, founder and CEO of RKS Design and LoanGifting. Dyan Decker (’02), partner at PwC and leader of the company’s U.S. forensic technology practice, will be participating in a Fireside Chat prior to lunch. The program will also include panel discussions by invited industry professionals and faculty from across the UCLA campus on topics featured at the recent CES® event in Las Vegas. The themes for this event will include: Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality, Internet of Things, Wearables, Big Data, Autonomous Vehicles and Smart Homes.
