AUSTIN, Texas--()--Lakeway Resort and Spa, a Texas Hill Country resort located on Lake Travis, announced today guests will have the option of receiving a digital key to their hotel room through an app called OpenKey.

Using a guest’s own smartphone, the app provides the convenience of keyless access to their hotel room. OpenKey (www.openkey.co) is a smart key, also known as a mobile key, which is the latest technology used in the hospitality industry. It allows a guest secure access to their room through the use of Bluetooth technology in both the smartphone and door lock.

“At Lakeway Resort and Spa we strive to provide our guests with the best experience possible,” said Blake Doran, general manager at Lakeway Resort and Spa. “As a AAA Four Diamond resort, our guests expect us to offer the latest amenities and benefits, that’s why we are excited to be offering OpenKey.”

Lakeway Resort installed OpenKey’s smartphone technology platform with their SALTO Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) room locks in the fall. As the industry standard for universal mobile keyless access in the hotel business, OpenKey works seamlessly with every major digital lock brand worldwide.

OpenKey’s platform does more than just enable Lakeway Resort guests to use their smartphone as a room key, it also allows guests the ability to check-in remotely, call the front desk, confirm their identity with an ID capture for security and send their estimated time of arrival (ETA) to the hotel via the app.

“Lakeway Resort and Spa is an amazing Austin destination,” said Brian Shedd, vice president of sales and marketing at OpenKey. “We’re thrilled to provide their guests the very best digital engagement experience to make their stays enjoyable, simple and worry-free. Being able to provide a product that improves the guest experience while saving the resort money is a true win-win for everyone.”

Nestled in the Texas Hill Country on the shores of Lake Travis, Lakeway Resort is home to 175 rooms and a short walk from several golf courses. The Remington-managed hotel has undergone extensive renovations. One of its most recent updates is the selection and implementation of OpenKey’s technology.
