Pacific Advisors Recognized for its Commitment and Action in Establishing Workplace Gender Equality

EDGE Global Gender Equality Certification endorses Pacific Advisors’ approach for measuring, tracking, and closing the corporate gender gap and creating an optimal work environment

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--()--Pacific Advisors, a member of The Guardian Network® and one of California’s largest financial services firms, has been awarded the Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE) certification. This certification recognizes the company’s commitment and measurable actions in achieving and sustaining gender equality in the workplace.

Distinguished by its rigor and business impact, EDGE certification is the premier standard and global assessment methodology for evaluating corporate commitment to gender equality. Factors evaluated in the review include recruitment and promotion, company policy, leadership development opportunities, mentoring, flexibility and company culture.

“EDGE Certification is a significant milestone for Pacific Advisors, and confirms that we are on the right track when it comes to creating an optimal, equitable workplace for our employees,” said Travis J. Hart, Managing Partner for Pacific Advisors. “We’re passionate about our work and our business; pursuing the EDGE certification was a measurable way to demonstrate how we strive to be an employer of choice for both men and women. In an industry that hasn’t traditionally been seen as ideal for women it’s important that we show that opportunities to join our team exist, as well as the support and environment exists where individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences can thrive. We are pleased with our firm’s achievement of the EDGE certification and the opportunities we see to continue improving.”

Pacific Advisors’ focus on achieving gender balance and equality reaches throughout all of the company’s efforts. At the end of 2015, women made up over 36% of the agency workforce and held 47% of all management positions. In October, the agency hosted a career event highlighting the success of strong women in the local community and encouraging local women in attendance to seize opportunities to advance their careers—and their lives—on their own terms.

According to Emily Viner, Vice President, Agency Growth and Development at Guardian, “We proudly support all of our firms in their efforts to create a gender balanced workplace and an inclusive talent pipeline at all levels. The EDGE Certification acknowledges the work we’ve committed to and reinforces our commitment to share gender intelligence, lead change across the industry and meet the needs of a constantly evolving marketplace.”

“As an esteemed financial services firm, Pacific Advisors focuses on providing a wealth-building journey with a distinctive strategy,” said Aniela Unguresan, Co-Founder, EDGE Certified Foundation. “By becoming EDGE Certified their internal commitment can serve as a blueprint to industry peers on how to close the gender gap and commit to gender equality in the workplace. This certification reaffirms Pacific Advisors position as an employer of choice.”

EDGE stands for Economic Dividends for Gender Equality and is distinguished by its rigor and focus on business impact. The methodology uses a business, rather than theoretical approach that incorporates benchmarking, metrics and accountability into the process. It assesses policies, practices and numbers across five different areas of analysis: equal pay for equivalent work, recruitment and promotion, leadership development training and mentoring, flexible working and company culture.

EDGE is currently working with more than 150 organizations, in over 40 countries and 22 industries.

The EDGE assessment methodology was developed by the EDGE Certified Foundation and launched at the World Economic Forum in 2011.
