Vizient, Inc. to Present at the ASHP 2016 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition

IRVING, Texas--()--Vizient, Inc. announced today that it will participate in three educational sessions at the ASHP 2016 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition, December 4-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. With its focus on improving patient care and medication safety, the ASHP event is expected to be attended by more than 20,000 pharmacy professionals from around the globe.

Vizient’s Steven Lucio, Pharm.D., BCPS, Associate Vice President Clinical Solutions and Pharmacy Program Development will participate in two sessions focused on biosimilars. Kristi Kuper, Pharm.D., BCPS, Senior Clinical Manager will lead a session on antibiotic stewardship. Vizient will also participate in the exhibition at booth 1275.

A discussion of the current status of biosimilar development in the United States, including the FDA approval pathway for biosimilars, FDA draft guidance documents on product labeling and interchangeability, diagnostic criteria and prescribing practices and pending approvals. Biosimilar Savings: Lowering Prices, But Who Saves Money?

A discussion of the opportunities for cost savings with biosimilars based on the European experience as well as the initial competing biologics approved in the U.S. and the anticipated approach of Medicare, Medicaid, private payers, and other entities and how these strategies will affect pharmaceutical costs. Antibiotic Stewardship: Innovative Practices in the Community Hospital Setting
Wednesday, December 7, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. PT, Mandalay Bay, Lagoon L, Level 2

A review and discussion of recent national legislative and policy efforts related to antibiotic stewardship, innovative antibiotic stewardship practices that can be implemented in the community hospital setting, technology to assist with antimicrobial stewardship efforts, and strategies used to engage private practice physicians in stewardship activities.
