HCL Introduces OSHA Compliant GHS Chemical Labels

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.--()--HCL Labels, Inc., a global leader in hazard and chemical labeling, announces the introduction of OSHA GHS-compliant labeling. Required by 29 CFR 1910.1200, the labels enable U.S.-based chemical companies to align with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

“The new labels enable chemical manufacturers to improve the safety of handlers, shippers and users in the U.S. and around the world,” explains Fernando Nell, CEO of HCL Labels and an environmental health and safety consultant.

“Each label identifies a hazardous substance by chemical name and composition and provides pictograms of the hazard, ‘Danger’ or ‘Warning’ signal words, precautionary and hazard statements and first aid information.”

According to OSHA, the revised standard will “reduce trade barriers and result in...productivity improvements for American businesses that regularly handle, store and use hazardous chemicals, as well as cost savings...when revising [relevant] safety data sheets and labels.”

The largest library of OSHA GHS-compliant labels in the world

HCL Labels offers more than 700 ready-made OSHA GHS-compliant labels and the ability to produce compliant labels for custom chemicals. It is the largest library of OSHA GHS-compliant hazard communication labels, ranging from familiar substances such as ethanol to extremely dangerous chemicals such as hydrogen fluoride, used in etching glass and pickling stainless steel.

“Clients used to have to source the labeling they needed from many small suppliers. Our library and our ability to customize specialty labels offer them the convenience of meeting all their compliance and safety labeling needs in one place,” Nell says. “We also can create labels in any language, making it easy for our multinational clients to better serve their customers outside the United States.”

Global reach

HCL Labels serves transnational leaders in chemical manufacturing; pharmaceutical manufacturing; biotechnology research and development; semiconductors and electronics; construction; hazardous waste transportation and disposal; oil, metal and electronics recycling; hazardous materials shipping; and agriculture, as well as auto and truck repair and body shops, colleges and universities and U.S. regulatory agencies.

In addition to OSHA GHS-compliant chemical labeling, the firm offers hazardous waste labels, DOT and EPA shipping labels and a variety of construction and workplace safety signage.
