Due to the rise of digital and cloud strategies, digital transformation is driving disruption across all industries and is requiring businesses to rethink their approach to networking. However, IDC predicts that by 2017, 60% of digital transformation initiatives will be unable to scale due to a lack of a strategic architecture.1 To address these challenges, Riverbed is delivering solutions to help businesses transition from legacy hardware to a new software-defined and cloud-centric approach to networking. At the conference, attendees will learn how Riverbed delivers the tools they need to understand, simplify, optimize, protect, and orchestrate applications and data across the hybrid enterprise, and extending into the cloud with Amazon Web Services (AWS), in order to capitalize on their digital transformation initiatives.

Riverbed will showcase its application-defined SD-WAN solution, SteelConnect, which provides an intelligent and simplified approach to designing, deploying, and managing distributed networks, and provides single-click and instant provisioning into AWS environments. SteelConnect is the industry’s first and only product to unify network connectivity and orchestration of application delivery across hybrid WANs, remote LANs and cloud networks. Following a successful early access launch of SteelConnect in April, Riverbed launched SteelConnect 2.0 in September, which offers richer integration with SteelHead WAN optimization, full SteelCentral visibility, dynamic routing, and greater scale for large enterprise deployments.

SteelConnect is already gaining traction and driving results for customers globally. SimplePay, an Australian-based payment processing company, is using SteelConnect as the backbone of a software-defined infrastructure to scale its business globally, and provide one-click connectivity to AWS and the cloud. For SimplePay, SteelConnect supplies the internal connection between all of the virtual clouds SimplePay runs in AWS and provides a consistent and secure connection anywhere in the world, allowing them to deploy and connect new infrastructure anywhere within minutes.

At AWS re:Invent, Riverbed is also partnering with Verizon to announce an AWS Direct Connect Bundle, which combines Riverbed’s industry-leading SteelHead™ WAN optimization solution, Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect and Virtual Network Services solutions, and AWS’ Direct Connect solution into a single offering to support hybrid cloud environments. With this solution, enterprise customers can connect their branch offices and data centers to AWS environments through managed, secure and optimized network services. Learn more.

What:

During AWS Re:Invent 2016, Riverbed will provide live demonstrations of the following solutions to show how customers can:

  • Scale AWS Deployments with Cloud-enabled SD-WAN: Software-defined networking offers a radically new approach to simplify networking in a cloud-centric world. Riverbed’s SD-WAN solution SteelConnect is uniquely designed to enable cloud workloads to provide the performance and agility that customers demand. Be it securely connecting existing branch offices of an organization to the AWS cloud, or peering between two or more AWS data centers in distributed regions, SteelConnect automates the processes to enable organizations to accelerate their cloud-first strategies.
  • Protect and Consolidate Remote Data in AWS: Riverbed SteelFusion and SteelConnect bring together an industry-leading SD-WAN solution, best-of-breed virtualization, intelligent storage caching and WAN optimization in a solution designed expressly for those remote edge locations. SteelFusion enables businesses to scale operations more effectively at the edge while consolidating data at the primary data center for security. Integrated with AWS, it brings the agility of hybrid cloud, so organizations can leverage the AWS cloud as a secondary storage tier for added capacity, for cloud-based backup, or for storage tiering in conjunction with private data center storage assets.
  • Monitor, Troubleshoot & Accelerate Apps in AWS: Enterprises are migrating to the cloud every day and need visibility into those apps when moving to AWS. SteelCentral AppInternals provides enterprises with software that monitors applications in the cloud and the data center continuously to trace transactions from end-users to the application back-end, providing end user experience insights and application analytics. SteelCentral Aternity adds further value by monitoring the end-user’s devices to identify any issues. Combined with the other components of the SteelCentral suite, AppInternals and Aternity give an unequaled view of performance from the user’s device(s), across the wire and into the back-end tiers of the application.
