BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Press Ganey today released its 2016 Nursing Special Report: The Role of Workplace Safety and Surveillance Capacity in Driving Nurse and Patient Outcomes. Through integrated, cross-domain analyses, the white paper examines the influence of specific nurse environment factors on clinical quality, nurse engagement, patient experience and public pay-for-performance outcomes. The data demonstrate that nurse workplace safety and surveillance capacity significantly impact nurses’ performance on each of these measures.

- Lower rates of missed care events, pressure ulcers and patient falls
- Higher RN job enjoyment rates, intent-to-stay percentages, meaningful contribution scores and RN-perceived quality of care scores
- More positive patient ratings of their experience with nurses, affecting Likelihood to Recommend scores and Overall Hospital Ratings
The report also outlines important analyses of pay-for-performance data, specifically highlighting a positive relationship between RN perception of workplace safety and both CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings and the Value-Based Purchasing Overall score.
