ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Free Waffle House waffles, hashbrowns and coffee will be waiting for the fans of either the University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels or the North Carolina State University (NC State University) Wolfpack as a part of the 2016 Waffle Wager.
Basic American Foods, C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc., and Royal Cup Coffee & Tea, three Waffle House restaurant suppliers, today announced the fourth annual Waffle Wager, college football’s tastiest wager, on the November 25 Carolina-State game.
“While the Carolina-State game goes back to the 1890s, there is even more on the line this year,” says Walt Ehmer, Waffle House President and CEO. “The Tar Heels and Wolfpack are playing for more than just bragging rights—they are playing for free food for their fans. Now that’s pressure.”
Fans of the winning team will receive Waffle House goodness at either a Waffle House restaurant in Chapel Hill, N.C., or Raleigh, N.C. If NC State University wins the game, Basic American Foods and C.H. Guenther will foot the bill for hashbrowns, waffles and coffee and if UNC wins, Royal Cup will pick up the tab. The “payout” date, time and winning Waffle House location will be announced after the game.
In addition to all of the free food, Waffle House, Royal Cup, C.H. Guenther and Basic American Foods collectively will donate $10,000 to the general scholarship fund of the winning university.

In 2013, Royal Cup and C.H. Guenther initiated the Waffle Wager with a friendly bet on the Alabama vs. Texas A&M game. Alabama’s 49-42 victory resulted in C.H. Guenther picking up the tab for Alabama students at a Waffle House restaurant in Tuscaloosa, Ala. To date, the Waffle Wager has served fans nearly 8,000 waffles, 7,000 orders of hashbrowns and 4,000 cups of coffee to breakfast-loving college students. In addition, $25,000 in scholarship funds has been donated to the winning university.
All three companies participating in the Waffle Wager supply products to Waffle House restaurants. Basic American Foods supplies Waffle House’s hashbrowns, C.H. Guenther supplies its waffle mix and Royal Cup supplies its coffee.
