FOX Business Network Tops CNBC in Business Day Viewers for the First Time Ever in October

FBN Delivers its Highest Rated Month Ever in Total Viewers for Business Day

Lou Dobbs Tonight and Varney & Company Top Business Television Programming

NEW YORK--()--For the first time in its history, FOX Business Network (FBN) topped CNBC in business day viewers for an entire month. According to Nielsen Media Research, October marked FBN’s highest-rated month ever in business day with 170,000 total viewers.

Compared to the same month last year, FBN was up double and triple digits across all dayparts while CNBC posted double-digit losses in every category. In business day, FBN averaged 170,000 viewers, up 67% compared to the same period last year and 22,000 in the key A25-54 demo, up 38%. In total day, FBN doubled its audience from the same month last year, up 110% in total viewers (145,000 P2+) and up 77% in the demo (23,000 A25-54).

Numerous programs had their most-watched months ever in total viewers including: Varney & Company (9-12PM/ET), Intelligence Report with Trish Regan (2-3PM/ET), Countdown to Closing Bell with Liz Claman (3-4PM/ET), After the Bell (4-5PM/ET), Risk and Reward (5-6PM/ET), Making Money with Charles Payne (6-7PM/ET) and Lou Dobbs Tonight (7-8PM/ET). Additionally, Mornings with Maria (6-9AM/ET) tied with its previous program monthly high in viewers and Cavuto: Coast to Coast tied with the program’s previous monthly high in the A25-54 demo. FBN programs also continue to outpace CNBC’s lineup in multiple hours throughout the day. Varney & Company (215,000 viewers) topped CNBC’s Squawk on the Street/Squawk Alley (167,000 viewers) for a third consecutive month. Following Varney, Neil Cavuto’s Cavuto: Coast-to-Coast (12-1PM/ET) delivered its second consecutive monthly win over CNBC’s Fast Money Halftime Report (12-1PM/ET) with 175,000 vs 171,000 in total viewers. And for the first time ever, Risk and Reward topped CNBC’s Fast Money/Options Action with viewers and Making Money w/Charles Payne beat Jim Cramer’s Mad Money with 136,000 total viewers. Additionally, Lou Dobbs Tonight topped CNBC in total viewers and the demo with 54,000 Adults 25-54 and 361,000 total viewers beating CNBC in viewers for the tenth consecutive month. FBN notched three of the top five business programs for a second month with Lou Dobbs Tonight, Varney & Company and Cavuto: Coast to Coast ranking first, second and fifth respectively.

Additionally, contributing to this month’s growth was the network’s coverage of the two presidential debates and one vice presidential debate. Hosted by anchor and managing editor Neil Cavuto, FBN swept CNBC for both presidential debates in total viewers and delivered the network's most-watched general election debates in network history.
