FORT WORTH, Texas & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TPG Real Estate Finance Trust, Inc. (“TRT”), the real estate debt origination and acquisition platform of global alternative asset firm TPG, today announced that Peter Smith will join as Managing Director and Head of Originations. Smith most recently served as Managing Director at Ladder Capital Corp. (NYSE: LADR). Smith will start at TRT in late November and will be based in the firm’s New York office.

Smith brings to TRT more than 25 years of commercial real estate lending experience, having previously held senior positions with Credit Suisse, UBS, and Heller Financial. His experience in the debt sector spans transitional loans, mezzanine loans, long-term fixed rate loans, loan portfolio acquisitions, and workouts and restructurings. Smith earned his BBA in accounting from the University of Michigan.

Smith’s appointment is the latest key addition to TRT’s leadership team, which is headed by Greta Guggenheim, who joined as CEO in January 2016.
