Health Partners Plans Among Top 15 Medicaid MCOs in the Country

HPP’s Medicaid Plan Rated #1 for Preventive Care in Pennsylvania by NCQA

PHILADELPHIA--()--Nationally recognized for its innovative approach to health care, Pennsylvania-based managed care organization Health Partners Plans (HPP) is one of the highest-rated Medicaid health plans in the state and one of the highest-rated health insurance plans in the nation, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2016–2017.

HPP was one of only 15 Medicaid plans in the country to receive an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 or better. HPP is also the top-rated Medicaid plan for preventive care in Pennsylvania, receiving 4.5 out of 5. This measure is based on how well plans provide screenings, immunizations and other preventive services.

In addition to being among the top nine percent of Medicaid plans in the U.S., HPP is one of the highest-rated Medicaid plans in Pennsylvania with a 4.5 out of 5. It is also just one of three to receive a 4 out of 5 rating for treatment, which measures performance in treating chronic and acute conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

“Our excellent performance in NCQA’s ratings emphasizes our nimble, innovative approach to health care, particularly in prevention and treatment,” said William S. George, president and CEO at Health Partners Plans. “It also affirms our commitment to delivering high-quality care and our demonstrated success in implementing novel, evidence-based programs to improve health outcomes for our more than 242,000 Medicaid members.”

NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2016 – 2017 compare the quality and services of more than 1,000 health plans across the country, including 171 Medicaid plans. NCQA’s ratings are based on three quality measures: clinical quality from NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), the most widely used performance measurement in health care; consumer satisfaction using Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®); and its own review of quality processes and accreditation standards.
