IDC Releases Survey Results on Drivers of Change Among Applicant Tracking System Buyers

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--In a recent employer survey on the state of applicant tracking system (ATS) adoption, International Data Corporation (IDC) examined how the rapidly expanding scope of talent acquisition is changing priorities among ATS buyers.

Asked how satisfied they are with their current ATS system, 17% reported a likelihood to change suppliers in the next 12 to 18 months, with mid-sized employers being the most likely to replace their existing ATS.

Of the 500 executives surveyed with hiring and recruiting responsibility, competition was found to be heating up among ATS providers with a better offer from a competitor ranked as the number one factor among those likely to change. Other leading drivers of change included improved user experience for managers, recruiters, and candidates, as well as the need for a more modern system. This openness to new vendors indicates a lack of overall 'stickiness' of incumbent solutions, amplified by increasing interest in best-of-breed talent acquisition platforms.

"With 90 percent of companies hiring the same number or more employees than last year, choosing the right system to manage it all is a tall order," said Kyle Lagunas, IDC research manager, Emerging Trends in Talent Acquisition and Staffing.
