A.M. Best to Attend the 21st African Insurance Organisation’s African Reinsurance Forum in Dakar, Senegal

LONDON--()--A.M. Best will attend the 21st African Reinsurance Forum organised by the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) from 2-4 October in Dakar, Senegal. The theme of the 2016 forum is, “African Insurance and Reinsurance Facing New Strategic Choices.’’

Dr. Edem Kuenyehia, associate director, market development & communications, A.M. Best, will be in attendance and will be conducting scheduled business meetings. To schedule a meeting with Dr. Kuenyehia at the forum, please email edem.kuenyehia@ambest.com.

A.M. Best recently published its special report on Africa’s reinsurance sector. In the report, titled, “Turbulent Economic Conditions Fail to Deter Interests in the African Reinsurance Markets,” A.M. Best observed that reinsurers needed to be mindful that they are operating in a highly competitive environment, with pricing, terms and conditions dictated by the softening in the wider global reinsurance markets. With additional pressures arising from the influx of foreign (re)insurance groups, reinsurers domiciled in Africa must focus on maintaining underwriting discipline as they expand, while developing business profiles that support their ability to compete effectively under severe circumstances.
