This season’s edition of the POW-MIA Freedom Car is a 2,750-pound 2016 Chevy Impala SS with a 4-speed, 500 horsepower engine with a top speed of 150mph that has competed this year in short-track, Late Model Class Regional NASCAR races throughout the South and Midwest. |
WHY: |
For Journalists: Over 87,800 American warfighters are still officially listed as MIA, while over 130,000 Americans have been held as POWs since World War II. Additionally, the American Legion national headquarters is located in Indianapolis. |
For Race Fans and Patriots: This weekend’s CRA Fall Brawl is the last stock car race of the season at Lucas Oil Raceway. It also marks an opportunity for veterans, reservists, active duty members of the military and their loved ones to show their support for American POWs and the Missing-in-Action. |
