LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tech Impact, which has prepared more than 200 students for careers in information technology, is launching a new program called CX Works at its new Las Vegas location. CX Works provides training for high school graduates ages 18 to 26 for careers in the fast-growing field of customer experience.
The Las Vegas location has been named “Tech Impact Opportunity Center Powered by Barclays”, and is housed in the Historic Westside School. It was created in partnership with Barclays, a transatlantic Consumer, Corporate and Investment Bank anchored in London and New York. Barclays granted Tech Impact more than $1 million over three-years to prepare urban adults for wage sustaining careers in technology and customer support.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment in the customer service field to grow 10 percent by 2024. This is faster than the average growth rate for all occupations and translates to an additional 252,900 jobs which will need to be filled by 2024. Las Vegas has already seen explosive growth for call center jobs during recent years.
“We see that in some communities there is a chasm between jobs and training. We can help bridge the gap between at-risk youth and a solid path to sustainable wage jobs through IT and CX training,” said Patrick Callihan, Tech Impact’s Executive Director.
The eight-week CX Works program offers free job training to at-risk youth with a high school diploma or equivalent. Students learn the hard and soft skills needed to succeed in the field of customer service. Courses will cover basic computer skills, relationship management, quality assurance and more. The program is designed to set graduates on a career path with financial stability and growth opportunity. CX Works participants could start at a salary of $27,000 upon graduation.
Tech Impact also offers another free training program IT Works at Tech Impact Opportunity Center Powered by Barclays. IT Works is a 16-week immersive IT training program which has graduated more than 200 students nationally since 2010. All program graduates are placed into IT internships and 75 percent find full-time opportunities within seven months of graduation. The starting salary of an IT Works graduate is around $30,000, though many students have gone on to earn salaries over $50,000.
