NEW YORK--()--DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, delivered German Designer Marcel Ostertag’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection to New York Fashion Week: The Shows. As one of the four winners of the DHL Exported program, Ostertag received shipping, logistics, branding and marketing support from DHL in collaboration with IMG to ensure that his 45 Spring/Summer 2017 designs completed the journey across 4,000 miles from his studio in Berlin to the catwalk in New York City.

DHL is dedicated to helping young designers like Marcel Ostertag who are established in their home markets launch their fashion brands on a global scale by offering complete logistics and e-commerce support. “I am thrilled to be back at New York Fashion Week: The Shows with my collection. DHL has been a great partner to work with, streamlining the shipping process for my collection to ensure that the pieces arrive safely and in time for my show,” said Ostertag, who presented his collection themed “Air” at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square on Tuesday evening, Sept. 13.

Like Marcel Ostertag, many designers are interested in showcasing their collections in international markets and seeing more and more customers outside of their home countries. At the same time, the time to market for fashion collections continues to shrink. Fashion brands rely on the “fast logistics” solutions DHL can provide to receive and send samples within tight deadlines, shorten the turnaround time from the runway to the storefront and help ensure healthy profit margins. From selecting the best online retail platform to implementing an easy and efficient returns process, DHL can guide designers through the entire cycle of launching their online retail site all the way to the shipping processes.

“A big trend in fashion sales this year is direct-to-consumer,” said Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S. “From legendary brands to start-ups, companies are realizing that tremendous logistical and technological expertise is required, especially if you’re selling internationally to consumers. We specialize in helping companies establish their brands around the world. DHL operates the fastest and most global logistics network available, spanning 220 countries for fashion brands of any size.”

DHL and IMG launched the DHL Exported Program in 2014 to support designers seeking to expand across international borders. The program has drawn designers from 36 countries. For the winning designers, DHL Exported is sponsoring a fully produced runway show for two consecutive seasons, providing logistics expertise and shipping the finished collection to the runways in New York, Milan, London or Tokyo.

The three other Cycle Two DHL Exported winning designers will take their second turn on the catwalk in the next few weeks: Sid Neigum at London Fashion Week; Atsushi Nakashima at Milan Fashion Week; and Anne Sofie Madsen at Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo.
